Pay It Forward
Good food brings people together — and our Pay It Forward spirit helps share meals and kindness with those who need it most.
What We Offer
Pay It Forward
At Massimo’s, we believe good food has the power to bring people together and make a difference. When settling your bill, you have the option to pre-buy a virtual slice of pizza for someone in need. These donated slices are “banked” and shared with individuals, families, and organisations within our community whenever support is needed.
Over the years, contributions have helped support local initiatives and community groups including fire and police services, victims of fires, floods, and storms, youth development programmes, rehabilitation projects, schools, crèches, and many other deserving organisations and individuals facing difficult times.
Some of the organisations we have supported include:
- Hout Bay Snipers Basketball Club
- Kronendal Music Academy
- Amoyo Performing Arts Foundation
- James House Youth & Community Support
- Hout Bay CARES Rehabilitation Project
- Workspace Skills Development Programme
- Little Angels Crèche, Hangberg
And many more members of our community whenever help is needed most.
Supporting Local
At Massimo’s, we believe in supporting local wherever possible — from the ingredients we use to the businesses and communities around us. By sourcing locally produced ingredients, we help reduce unnecessary food miles while supporting South African jobs and suppliers.
We’re proud to use stone-ground, unbleached, non-GMO flour from Eureka Mills, along with locally produced cheeses and meats crafted in traditional Italian style right here in South Africa.
Our seafood is responsibly sourced according to SASSI (South African Sustainable Seafood Initiative) principles, helping protect our oceans and marine life for future generations.
We also remain committed to reducing our environmental impact by using recycled and biodegradable straws, eco-friendly takeaway packaging, and recycling or composting much of our packaging waste wherever possible.
To further reduce plastic waste, we filter and bottle our own water using a Vivreau filtration system — helping save thousands of plastic bottles from ending up in landfills every year.
At Massimo’s, great food and responsible choices go hand in hand.
We Love Our Dogs
At Massimo’s, well-behaved dogs on a leash are always welcome — we even have a special menu for your favourite furry companion.
To ensure everyone enjoys their visit, please let us know when making your booking if you’ll be bringing your dog along. Due to the open pizza kitchen and oven area, certain seating sections may not be available for guests dining with pets.
If you’re seated outside with your dog, we kindly ask that all pets remain on their leash and that owners are considerate of other guests by cleaning up after them when needed.
Our team works hard to create a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all visitors, and management reserves the right of admission when necessary.
As part of our commitment to giving back, R3 from every doggy meal sold is donated to The Underdog Project — helping support vulnerable youngsters and rescued dogs within our community.
Giving Back With Every Meal
How we give back
At Massimo’s, giving back is part of what we do. With the support of our customers, a portion of selected menu items is donated to local charities, community projects, rescue organisations, and outreach programmes making a real difference in and around Hout Bay. Each week, we proudly share our donations on social media so you can see the impact your support helps create.
Aperol Spritz, Bambino Pizza & Organic LemonAID
R5 from every Aperol Spritz sold supports the Hout Bay Emergency Volunteer Ambulance Service. R2 from every Bambino Pizza sold is donated to the Hout Bay Emergency Volunteer Ambulance Service. R2 from every Organic LemonAID sold also supports this vital local service.
Luna Pizza
For every Luna Pizza sold, R5 is donated to DARG (Domestic Animal Rescue Group), a pro-life non-profit organisation dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, sterilising, and rehoming neglected and abandoned cats and dogs within the Hout Bay community.
Margherita Pizza
For every Margherita Pizza sold, R4 is donated to Border Collie Rescue — an organisation committed to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming Border Collies in need.
Calamari
For every Calamari dish sold, R2 goes to NSRI Sea Rescue Hout Bay.
Hot Latina Pizza & Happy Valley Calzone
For every Hot Latina Pizza and Happy Valley Calzone sold, R5 is donated to the local Community Crime Prevention Unit (CCP).
House Wine
For every bottle of house wine sold (red or white), R2 supports Community Cohesion, helping feed local communities in need.
Doggy Menu
For every item sold from our Doggy Menu, R3 is donated to The Underdog Project — an organisation helping vulnerable youngsters build confidence and life skills through working with rescued dogs.
Bottled Water
To help reduce plastic waste, we refill glass water bottles. For every bottle sold, R3 is donated to Friends of the River in Hout Bay. Thank you for helping us support the people, animals, and organisations making a difference in our community. Every meal shared at Massimo’s helps give back in some way.
